Principles of Government and Politics (GVPT 100H) This course presents an intensive introduction to the study of government and politics. We will discuss approaches to, and debates in, the study of the main subfields of political science: political theory, American politics, comparative politics and international relations. The underlying theme will be an in-depth exploration of the concept and practice of democracy. In our discussions and assignments, we will play particular attention to building connections between the subfields and the comparative study of different political systems. Critical thinking and active discussion are stressed through out the course. Required readings must be completed prior to each class. |
