The article describes an Indian experience were 5 information centres were set up and connected via VHF radio. The aim of the project is to give relevant information to local villagers. Information were gathered into database and include also audio and video format. Main topics covered regards agriculture, market prices and health care issues. Information needs were surveyed before setting up databases. All material is available in Tamil. The staff received a training of two weeks to acquire basic IT skills and to be aware of gender related issues.
